Fall Family Photos & A New Furry Family Member | Jones Point Park

One of the very best parts of what I do is watching the families and the children that I photograph grow and change. Lizz has been trusting me to capture her family photos for 7 years now. Which means I’ve been watching, and documenting, her sweet girls, Bella and Natalie, as they grew from toddlers into young women. And I’ve watched the love that Lizz and Richard share and shower on their girls help make them into the sweet and confident ladies that they are right now.

Over the years, I’ve captured their family photos everywhere from the US Naval Academy to Ocean City to their home in Alexandria, Virginia. Now, each year, we do a little brainstorming for our next location. This year, Jones Point Park in Alexandria did not disappoint!

We were fortunate to find some beautiful fall foliage at the one end of the park. And the girls took a moment to enjoy and play in the leaves.

As we walked on the trail along the Potomac River, we paused briefly under the Woodrow Wilson Bridge to document Lizz and Richard’s love. It’s not hard to see how much these two adore one another.

The Jones Point Park Lighthouse, the last remaining riverine lighthouse in Virginia, makes for an iconic spot for family photos.

I love watching the love these sisters share and how they place together. I hope they always share this playful and trusting relationship, and know how lucky they are to have one another.

Family love expands as our families grow. Sweet Midnight joined their family just two weeks before our session and he is very clearly already an integral part of this family. Natalie repeatedly referred to him as her brother, and he was central in so many of our portraits. I loved watching everyone dote on this pup!

Lizz and Richard, thank you for giving me the honor of documenting your family for all of these years. It is truly so special to me. I appreciate both your friendship and your trust in me to capture your sweet moments.
