You're here and so loved, Sweet Sister Skye | Pasadena, Maryland

Sweet baby Skye’s due date came and went and we were still waiting on little sister to come into the world. Mom and Dad were very ready; it’s hard to know if big sister, Isla, was ready, but we know the family Halloween costume, which centered around Skye being the Very Hungry Caterpillar and Isla being the newly metamorphosed butterfly, was definitely ready!

Skye Harper arrived just in time, on October 25 at 7:28am, just over 8 lbs of pure perfection. Just like big sister, Isla, Skye is named for one of Scotland’s magical islands. I could not wait to document those tiny fingers and toes at her newborn photo session in their home in Pasadena, Maryland, and I arrived at their house when she was just a week old to capture all those little details and all of the love that surrounds both of Jen and Will’s girls. There was extra love in the house that day, as Aunt Caroline soaked up some sweet baby snuggles and big sister’s giggles.

We eased into our session with naked baby snuggles in mom and dad’s room, as everyone got ready for their family photos. And then we meandered into Isla’s room, quite possibly my favorite room in the house, where Isla showed me her plush collection where baby Groot is the star of the show.

Isla may not be sure about sharing her mom, her rocking chair or her favorite Grogu blanket just yet. I have no doubt that, as the years go on, these girls will become the best of friends, love each other fiercely, and steal each others clothes when they are teenagers.

Following Isla’s lead, we headed outside for some fresh air, blessed with an incredible 70 degrees and sunny on this early November day. A picnic lunch kept everyone content as Skye napped and Isla explored the zippers on both her and mom’s boots.

After getting our fill of the fresh fall air (and some chicken nuggets!), we headed inside for a few quiet moments. Isla and Skye have a playroom of Montessori dreams, and it’s a joy to watch Isla show her puzzle and climbing skills. Skye was content to listen to sister read her “The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s First Fall” and stay nestled in her mama’s arms.

Isla’s nap time was quickly approaching, so we headed upstairs to wind down. The giggles, the snuggles and all the love continued as Isla began her ritual prep for nap and Skye looked on to see what her life might be like in another year or so.

Precious little ones grow up so quickly, those tiny fingers and toes changing into chubby toddler hands and feet.

Jen and Will, thank you so much for giving me the honor of documenting your growing family. Your girls are incredibly special and I love spending time with your family and appreciate you trusting me with capturing these wonderful milestones.
