Happy First Birthday to Pip!

I cannot believe it’s been a year since I drove to the hospital to capture Fresh 48 photos of Penelope and her family. It feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago at the same time. I am so thrilled that her mama, Cate, booked a multi-session package before she was even born because it has given me much to look forward to over the past year, culminating in a cake smash celebration.

Miss Penelope has so much personality, and when I went to photograph her one year old milestone portraits and cake smash this past Sunday, she was showing me that personality from the start. She was a vision in lace and pearls, smiling for me, modeling for me, and interacting with anyone who would pick her up or even glance her way.

When the cake came out, she showed us that she much preferred her cake to be eaten with a silver spoon and she had a little help from all of us getting messy for photos!

With twin big brothers, less than two years older than she is, Pip wasn’t getting mixed up in the fray of the wrestling matches, but I could tell that when she does, she will certainly hold her own. Wrangling three toddlers (under the age of three!) is no joke, but Jerry and Cate do it all with grace, and a lot of laughter. By the end of the session, I wasn’t sure that both Jay and Mason were ever looking at the camera at the same time and Cate’s response is “it’s my life.”

Cate and Jerry handle all of life with grace, and I am so grateful to call them my friends. I am enjoying watching Mason, Jay and Pip grow, and my time with this family is always full of laughter, hugs and wonderful, heartfelt conversation.
